![]() I hope this information can help someone out there. I have owned a 94 protege since new and loved that car till I got rear ended and it was totalled, and since it was a great car, I decided to buy this one, but I think I am done with mazda. I also had a rattle from the bottom of the engine, and I found that one of my exhaust down pipe to the back pipe flange broke and the spring was rattling and causing all the noise, I removed it and the noise was gone. Regarding cutting off, when was the last time you replaced your spark plugs? mine did the same thing especially under hard acceleration, till I replaced my plugs with ordinary copper plugs, nothing fancy needed, all the platinum plugs don't work very well, atleast for my car. Mine sounded like the suspension is falling apart, but everything was tight, and I finally found the source to be the sway bar links. In regards to the person posted about a clunk over pot holes in slow speeds, replace your front sway bar links. I have ~170K on it, no major problems, but I have been keeping up with it. Currently my check engine light is on, and I searched the internet for the code pulled and it said to replace the O2 sensors, which I did, but still the light is on. Thank you Mazda for making a fun competitor in this segment.I have owned my 2000 LX since new, and have been through a few of those problems. When I start my car especially the morning, blue smoke came out for about 30 seconds - Mazda 2002 Protege question. It does NOT sound like a kazoo as so many other exhaust systems on 4 cylinders cars do.Īdditionally, the strut tower brace helps make the car resist understeer and makes the platform feel more solid than it already was. There is a little bit more rumble when driving in normal conditions, but under heavy throttle, the sound is deep and just loud enough. The car is quicker by the stopwatch and not just the 'butt dyno' Not sure of the accuracy of the times that I have gotten, but I used the same app on the with the same amount of gas in similar temperature conditions and several different launching techniques and the times before were close to what all of the car rags have reported and the car is definitely quicker now. The combination of the intake and exhaust has transformed the throttle response, the power and torque have increased across the entire rev range. I wanted to enhance an already fun to drive car. I installed the exhaust, cold air intake and strut tower brace on my 2016 6 touring. Then maybe the lowering kit in early 2022. some Enkei or possibly Momo wheels and the CS Big Brake Kit during the Fall season. It took us around 4-5 hours, but we were definitely taking our time on a normally lazy Saturday. Instructions were very straightforward, as they have been for the other upgrades. Installation was a breeze, as well, especially with my neighbor helping out. I've never been into car audio systems very much (even though I'm a musician), but who needs a subwoofer when you've got such a rich, deep tone coming from your tailpipe, right!?!? The sound is exactly what I'd hoped for, as well, without being an annoyance to the neighbors. ![]() Search YouTube for 'Mazda 3 muffler delete' Plenty of good videos showing how it sounds. I've personally been looking into a corksport or RacingBeat axleback, but it's hard to justify 300+ for basically a nicer muffler and bigger exhaust tips lol. With it being much lighter than the stock exhaust, the difference in HP is more than noticeable. An oem one with Drilled holes, a leak, or removal of the muffler lmao. I've had the Short Ram Intake, Strut Bar and Rear Motor Mount installed since 2017 and those upgrades already increased the performance and feel of the drive, but the Catback Exhaust took it to another level altogether. This is by far the best CS upgrade I've put on my 2014 6 Sport.
